Beef suppliers linked to deforestation
In the autumn of 2020, amidst a global pandemic, we were approached by one of the UK's largest retailers, asking for our assistance with a major strategic challenge. Due to the continuing deforestation in Brazil they had taken the decision to stop sourcing their own label corned beef from the Brazilian Amazon and were looking for a more sustainable alternative.
Field to fork credentials
Using our extensive network of manufacturing partners, we quickly identified a European manufacturer that was able to satisfy, and comply, to the UK retailers' high technical standards, as well as producing a product that matched the current own label brand.
Working closely with the retailer onsite and in the UK, recipes were developed, tasted and trialled until they satisfied our customer's stringent brief. We were able to locate a source of beef that was not only able to satisfy the retailers rigorous checks on animal welfare and sustainability but was also local to the factory... a very short supply chain!

Complying with all the restrictions both home and abroad, lockdown failed to deter our team and our customer was soon completing their technical site audit, approving trial production samples and giving us the green light to start full production runs.
